Transaction stuck pending when moving assets from Optimism to ETH

Last night I tried to transfer assets from Optimism to Ethereum, and the transaction has been stuck in pending status for over four hours. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if this is a known issue. Has anyone else encountered this lately?

I encountered this myself last week; it took almost six hours for everything to go through successfully. The withdrawal request review period can take longer than most people expect. It might be worth checking your Wallet Activity tab to confirm that the request was actually submitted.

This particular delay in completing withdrawals was caused by congestion on the L1 side. The Optimism network uses a failover window that can extend up to seven days on the canonical path, which catches many by surprise. A faster solution exists through third-party liquidity providers, which bypass this window entirely by using a bridge. Checking the transaction hash in an L1 explorer will at least confirm whether the relay message was received.
