The OG XBox modding scene is crazy

I think I posted about people miniaturizing their OG XBoxes in some other post. I was doing a little browsing on Reddit after searching power input requirements for the bugger.

From mini PSU mods to replacing the entire CPU, damn, it makes me jealous about the time people are putting into to reduce the thermal and physical footprint of these suckers.

I remember people overclocking, but yeah, now they are replacing the chips.

Reddit's not a goto waste of time for me, though I do find the videos of idiotsincars entertaining and could probably scroll forever. There are just so many idiots in cars. It's actually concerning for someone who doesn't commute inside a 2 ton metal tank, but uses a twig with wheels attached.
Most retro game-focus reddit forums are filled with noobs who ask, 'is this authentic?' and 'I finally beat blah-blah', headlined with an image that spoils the ending. They are not entertaining to browse.

I haven't seen anyone post a miniaturized XBox on ebay though I don't search for them Considering how much people list more simple mods such as replacing the drive, hdmi, allowing games to run off the drive, and emulation boxes, I can't imagine a price under $500 for a mini XBox. There's a lot of work that goes into it. Heck, a working XBox system goes for around $80-100.

I know there's a healthy software modding scene for the original XBox. People mod existing games but they also do PC to XBox ports.

I'd love to have some time to sink into sprucing up my Xboxes.  That is cool people are taking an interest in them.

There are some subreddits that I do enjoy.  More of lolcow milking though.  I keep an eye on Dayton's reddit just to see what these goons are politically motivated against so I know what to vote for to antagonize them.  I did make a useful thread looking for local parks with obstacle courses.  I found a few.  But overall if you want an honest opinion on an adult subject that is just not the place to go.  The amount of political discourse I see stemming from Harry Potter analogies is disheartening.
